Maestro
Jerome
Couture
is
President
and
founder
of
The
Music
School,
Inc.
and
a
master
teacher
and
performer
on
25
instruments.
His
early
teachers
were
from
Julliard
Music
School
and
Russia.
He
won
scholarships
to
study
conducting
at
the
San
Francisco
Conservatory
of
Music,
teacher
training
at
the
University
of
Michigan
with
Robert
Culver,
and
orchestral
studies
at
the
University
of
Washington
with
James
DePriest,
Murry
Sidlin
and
Rafael
Druian.
Jerome
earned
his
B.A.
and
M.S.T.
from
Portland
State
University,
and
earned
acclaim
as
musical
director
and
conductor
for
Portland
Civic
Theatre,
and
as
string
specialist
in
the
West
Linn
and
Lake
Oswego
school
districts.
Mr.
Couture
is
a
prolific
composer,
performer
and
arranger,
and
released
his
debut
album
“Too
Haute
To
Handle”
in
1988
followed
by
a
tour
with
the
Jerome
Couture
Fusion
Quintet
(
jeromecouture.com
).
He
has
been
a
frequent
performer
at
local
blues
and
jazz
clubs,
and
performed
as
soloist
under
the
baton
of
James
DePriest
and
with
the
Marylhurst
Symphony.
Jerome
spent
35
years
writing,
arranging,
performing
and
recording
with
Corinne
Couture
as
the
Haute
Couture
Duo,
and
has
become
a
computer
technician,
web
designer,
videographer,
construction
manager
and
carpenter
due
to
the
work
required
to
build
The
Music
School.
He
is
currently
developing
a
unified
theory
about
how
people
learn
based
upon
the
thousands
of
lessons
taught
at
The
Music
School
and
research
done
throughtout
the
scientific
world,
and
filming
a
series
of
teaching
videos
based upon that theory. An avid athlete, Jerome competed in the 1979 Portland Marathon.
